KELOWNA, BC?- The UBC Okanagan Heat fought valiantly but could not get past the University of Victoria Vikes blanketing defense, falling by 18 points, 74-46 at UBC?s Okanagan campus Friday night.
The game was UBC Okanagan? CIS WBCA Shoot for the Cure game.
Vikes guard Deborah Yeboah scored a game-high 18 points and forward Allison Mulock had 16. Yeboah also grabbed a tied game-high 10 rebounds.
Freshman guard Emily Kanester of the Heat scored a team-high 11 points. Krystal Schouten?had eight points. Kanester and Schouten each grabbed five rebounds.
The win moves the Vikes to 7-8 on the season and keeps their playoff dreams in place, while the Heat move down to 2-13.
The teams meet again on Saturday at UBC?s Okanagan campus at 4:00 p.m. The game can be seen live at?www.canadawest.tv.
